Coffee, Coffee, Coffee

I think Lorelai Gilmore says it best: "Coffee, coffee, coffee!" You probably think that no one in real life could drink more coffee than the Gilmore girls, but I bet ya I run a close second. I'm a coffee addict. I love coffee, actually I live on coffee. It's my one and almost only beverage that I consume on a daily basis. Yes, there is the H2O, the milk and the rootbeer that I drink, but it doesn't hold a penny to the rich and creamy liquid. I admit it. Gilmore Girls started the psychosis, but it rampaged all on its own. I used to watch GG and drink coffee, and I used to drink coffee and think GG, but now I drink coffee in the morning, the noon and the night. It's became a life on its own. I don't fret too much, though. It's got to be a healthier obsession than alcohol. Right?

But alas, let's think on GG's favorite coffee moments. I'm hoping that everyone can agree that the most known coffee moment is the scene from the pilot:

LORELAI: Please, Luke. Please, please, please.
LUKE: How many cups have you had this morning?
LORELAI: None.
LUKE: Plus...
LORELAI: Five, but yours is better.
LUKE: You have a problem.
LORELAI: Yes, I do.
Luke pours her coffee.
LUKE: Junkie.
LORELAI: Angel. You've got wings, baby.

But the next scene is following pretty close (just because coffee's the answer to her dilemma):

[Luke’s Diner. Luke is taking chairs off the tables when he sees Lorelai sitting outside the diner waiting for him to open.]
LUKE: What are you doing?
LORELAI: I need coffee.
LUKE: It's 5:00 in the morning. Make coffee at your own house.
LORELAI: I did. I drank it all.
LUKE: You drank all the coffee in your house before five in the morning?
LORELAI: Big gulps, lots of sugar.
LUKE: Alright, get up. [Pulls her up and takes her inside.]
LORELAI: And just a little bit of cream 'cause it makes it cold.
LUKE: Keep moving.
LORELAI: [ Sighs ] I can't sleep. I can't turn my mind off. It keeps running and thinking and making lists.
LUKE: Maybe if you drank a little less coffee, you'd make a little less lists.
LORELAI: Oh, I can't stop drinking the coffee. If I stop drinking coffee, I stop doing the standing and the walking and the words putting-into-sentence doing.
LUKE: I'll make you some coffee.

So what do you think? Are you a coffee addict? How much do you drink a day? What's your favorite GG coffee moment or quote?

I am a reformed coffee addict. I can finish a carafe of coffee by myself in 2 hours and still be able to function and/or sleep. I don't drink decaf... Well, until I was told to limit my caffeine intake to 16oz. But that's another story.

My favorite coffee line? I wrote it in "Dueling Toothpicks". Here it is:

“I’ll buy you a cup of coffee,” he bribed.

    “Five,” she bargained.

“Fine, five large coffee cups. One for each day you work,” he stated. He felt good about his negotiating skill.

“I was referring to five, tomorrow. And the venti kind. Not large, not grande. Venti,” Rory clarified. “Getting me up before noon will be your crucifix.”

yeah, I should really stop or limit my coffee doses, but what can I say? It's my survival drug. "And what's wrong with coffee any (that's what I ask people when they say something about my habit)? If I was drinking a coke or a pepsi, you'd not say a thing." So I just look at it like this: people drink cokes, and I drink coffee. Seems to balance out to me.

Where did you get that quote? Did you make it up? 'Cause I can't seem to locate it in any GG episode.

I think you've already quoted my favorite coffee scene with that second one there. Especially the part about "the words putting-into-sentence doing." Ha!

I love the coffee, but I'm too lazy to make it myself. Or not enough of a morning person. I gotta get me one of those coffee makers with a timers on it. By the time I roll out of bed I'm already late for work, so there's no making coffee for me in the morning.

I'm lazy, too. That's why I got me one with a timer. I set it at night and wham it's there in the morning, making the house smell great.

I wrote it in my GG/DC crossover story. It's posted on Fanfiction.net.

Thanks for the website. I'll look it up. And hey, that's what I would have said if I was Rory. Hell, that's what I do say. Give me five and I'll be five by five for the rest of the day!

Can anyone guess my reference (it's the one in italics)?

I've wondered what "five by five" means ever since I used to play StarCraft, but haven't been motivated to look it up until now.

Not only did I learn that it basically means "loud and clear," I was also reminded that it was a line from Aliens.

I've never watched Buffy or Angel, but I'm betting you're using it as a quote from Faith, who apparently liked to say it a lot.

Yep. I was referring to Faith on Buffy.
