The Other Shoe

This isn't Veronica Mars and we don't need a clue to tell us about the other shoe. April Nardini is Luke's daughter. When this bomb-shell hit the airwaves, I thought this is it. This is the end of Lorelai and Luke. But I was wrong. Amy Sherman-Palladino has decided to enrage us with the other shoe...the protracted wait. This past Tuesday's episode was a filler (one of too many for me). It picked up right where it left off, and it picked up in the trash. At first I was glad to see Rory and Paris hanging on the couch, but wham! Logan shows up and Rory jumps to his commands. What a loser! They have completely destroyed her character. Sorry; that's not the point of this typing session. Okay, where was I? Oh, yeah. It's about Lorelai and Luke. And of course, April, though she doesn't appear. You see, the whole episode is about furthering Lorelai and Luke's relationship to despair by Lorelai losing her annoyance and frontal assault and Luke being really stupid. I mean any guy would know that things are not okay. Wake up and smell your coffee pot, Luke! You are losing Lorelai, and I bet that she'll be running more and more toward Chris as the season comes to an end.

But anyhoo. The other shoe is coming. I feel it and it's the smell of a burnt relationship. From what the spoilers have been showing on tv and from what I have read on the web, it appears to becoming at this season's finale. And I just bet you that it will leave Lorelai destroyed, while leaving Christopher as her white and shine-filled knight. What are your thoughts? Do you hate Luke? What about April? Has Lorelai's person changed? If so, how? And have you felt the foreshadowing of what's to come? Do you think that the other shoe is the ending of Lorelai and Luke's relationship?

I'm going to be optimistic and hope for the best for Luke and Lorelai (by the way, iw ant to name one of my future daughters Lorelai-love that name!)

Yeah, I guess I'm kind of a whiner on my blog..life is tough lately. Thanks for the support. =)

And as for your comment about life getting a little easier as we get older, well, I'm only 21 (22 in June) and life sometimes seems now like it can't possibly get any harder than this, when I know that it WILL get much harder.

Eww..sorry about the linear algebra. I personally think that there are two kinda of people: the english (writing) people and the math(numbers)type of people. I myself am definately a writing person...love to write. I cannot stand math..by far my worst subject. So...yeah..didn't sound like you were too fond of math either.

Out of curiosity, what is your major?

    Rudy,

I SAW the script to the Season Finale. With that said, I would say, "I saw it coming."

I was rather disheartened with what ASP had done with her characters (what? I know, I've already blasted her enough on my blog). They've gotten wet noodles for spines since season 4! I've hoped. I've prayed. When the only thing that actually gets me going this season is Finn and Colin and Zach and Lane, it means that I have lost all personal interest in the main characters, and I mean, MAIN.

Where was I? Oh yeah. I don't hate April. I don't really hate any of the characters. I just hate that the show was written worse than any daytime soap.

Uhm, at this point, I am preferring Chis over Luke. Well, I've always preferred Chris but there is something to be said about Luke (until we all point out TV logic and the off-timelines).

Okay, enough ranting. Hope that "answers" your question.

Lindy. What can I say? I love math, but it doesn't keep me sane with the indepth work I'm currently in in my math major. I'm into the proofs and high up maths. It's interesting and great at times. The only thing that gets me down is the intense mental work it takes, like ten hours of homework a week for each class. I know...whoa. But what can I say? It's my choosen path.

And as for the L&L thing. It's become...um...boring for me. Chris is looking better and better, too me. And I guess that I don't hate April, probably just the writers...what were they thinking? This is Gilmore Girls not The O.C. GG hasn't needed the rich and snobby and out of the blue babies in the past, so why is ASP dipping in the wrong well now? Has she lost her edge? Or has she become brain dead?

    You nailed the brain-dead part.

I swear, I read better and more realistic alterno-universe GG stuff in Fanfiction.

Yep. Fanfic has definitely got better stuff, so maybe they should take on some fans and let them help pitch ideas. Or at least listen to the audience's groan of the ridiculous that they have now.

I do think that Lorelai's personality has changed. She's not so gung-ho about fixing the problem and telling Luke off; she's just sitting in wait, trying to do the right thing. That's not Lor's style, and I hope she finds her footing soon because I don't want her back with Chris. I'm with Luke, even though he's being pig-headed at the moment. Plus, it's not his fault that Amy is screwing up his GG life.

"Logan shows up and Rory jumps to his commands. What a loser! They have completely destroyed her character."

I don't know about that. She's not any happier with Logan than Lorelai is with Luke right now. Logan got her to come back with cold, hard logic and Rory's always been logical. Her heart isn't in it though. She didn't just run back to him. Tough times are coming for them as a couple.

"...she's just sitting in wait, trying to do the right thing. That's not Lor's style..."

I don't know about this either. I think Lorelai is scared to death that she's going to somehow screw up another engagement. Put that next to the fact that she's known and liked Luke so long as a friend and doesn't want to mess that up, and I think Lorelai's acting believably.

As for Rudy's other questions: I don't hate Luke, but I do think he's especially clueless about the wedge he's letting April unintentionally drive between him and Lorelai. How hard would it be for him to tell April that Lorelai is a big part of his life and that he wants them to get to know each other? It's not like April is some sort of jealous monster or something.

I don't think Chris'll ever be back in Lorelai's romantic picture. Yuck. Too many complications.

I don't know what's going to happen in the finale, but it wouldn't surprise me to see Luke and Lorelai call off their engagement. Just like it wouldn't surprise me to see them call it on again next season. Not that I'm happy with being jerked back and forth like that.
