Jackson Who ??

There's been some questioning going around about Jackson's last name. Is it Belleville or Melville? I thought that I should let you guys know that the first time we hear a last name for Jackson is in season one's Christopher Returns episode. In the episode, Jackson introduces himself in the bookstore as Jackson Melville. However, many websites host the name Belleville, like imdb.com. But don't fear, for I have substantial evidence so that Jackson and fans can finally have an answer. Do you guys remember the episode in season five where Sookie goes into labor with Martha? Of course, you do. It's the episode that Lorelai thinks that she might be pregnant again. Well, the name of the episode is called Blame Booze And Melville. So I guess you have an answer. It's Jackson Melville, and I'd take that as an official confirmation.

I always took the Melville to mean Herman, author of Moby Dick. Before Rory steals the yacht she says RORY: You know the beginning of Moby Dick, when the narrator says that when
he finds himself growing grim about the mouth and wanted to knock people’s
hats off, he takes to the sea?

    LOGAN: Yeah.

RORY: Well I feel like knocking people’s hats off.

LOGAN: So I guess we got to take to the sea.

RORY [nodding, looks around]: That one looks good.

Actually, I have to disagree. In the beginning of Season 5, Jackson decides to run again Taylor as town selectman. The episode is called "Tippecanoe and Taylor too." And the part in the episode where the town is at a town meeting and at the end of the meeting, Jackson talks to several people saying "Hi I'm Jackson I need your vote" and to one individual he says "Hi I'm Jackson Belleville, I need your vote- that's with 4 "l's."

Don't mean to be too argumentative, but I did see the episode last night...

    Okay, so here's the thing.

ASP sucks when it comes to continuity.

She has used Melville, and also Belleville on numerous occasions. Melville on both the eps that you have mentioned, but Belleville has been in TC&TT, as well as Always a Godmother, Never a God.

She also had Rory tell Jess in Deep Fried Korean Thanksgiving that she and Dean had never broken up before, and so she didn't know the protocol on how to behave with Jess. This is extremely untrue, since we all know that Dean and Rory broke up not only at the Dance Marathon, but also on their three month anniversary, when she couldn't tell him she loved him.

Guess, I need to look through the rest of the seasons and pay close attention. But you know that may not even help because of the wishie-washie-ness of Jackson's last name.

LOL! What if A S-P was doing it on purpose? I mean she does have Kirk doing huge amounts of jobs all over Stars Hollow, why not a character with two lasts names?

Although they do say Melville in a couple episodes, Belleville is also said. Belleville makes sense to me because of his brother's name and hick charater, "Beau Belleville" -- which to me sounds funnier and therefore more likely to be correct than Beau Melville. There definitely is some inconsistency with this in the show.
