The Real Paul Anka
For the start of the episode and the episode's name sake, we have the "real and doggie Paul Anka" dream sequence of Lorelai's. This dream was strange, out-of-the-blue and too much like Kirk's home-made video from season two. Now, if it was Kirk's dream, then it would have fitted into the show a little better. However, with that said, the dream sequence had a sighing-laugh moment to it that was great to have after last week's filler episode, but don't get me started on that episode.
Now, I'd like to dive right in on the Rory part, but let's leave that til the last. I'll need to leave my brain free for that. So the episode overall had a great punch to it, especially the Lorelai/Luke goodbye after the opening credits. Luke was so unaware and oblivious to Lorelai's outburst. I have to say that the bag beating was great and so...I mean so...deserved. 'Bout time Lor! Because I've been going crazy with the "I'm trying to be supportive" kick. Your a woman and a fiance. Hello! That equals some defensive behavior with a dose of obsession added in. But what irked me even more was that Luke still didn't get the hint after she force feed the truck Luke's suitcase. I'm completely frustrated with him right now...well, actually I have been for awhile...and I think that hate is starting to boarder the edge of my Luke parade. But the scene with Ceasar and Kirk at the dinner helped thwart it for awhile. Having Kirk in an apron reminded me of his spontaneous job at the Dragon Fly, which was a great GG recollection.
I'll skip over the field trip portion of the episode and jump to the Luke and Jess reunion. It felt very much like the last episode Luke and Jess had together...it was comfortable and cute. I'm glad that Jess has been grateful for Luke's attempted help, and the check was a great step to show for that, though I felt uneasy with Luke taking it. I mean my parents raised me, and I hope that they don't want any refunds because they'd break me. But it was a great exchange. Jess needed to do it and I'm glad that A S-P has decided to up-grade his character because he deserves it.
Okay. It's time for the Rory bashing. I know, I know. Rory's a good little girl. Yeah, right. Lately she's taken a trip to bizarre world with a one way ticket. But with that said, I loved...LOVED...the fact that Rory was so...how should I say this...hmmm...evil. Well, I guess mean and unpleasant would do, but oh, well. She has been giving Logan the cold shoulder since the end of the last episode, but she hasn't left bizarre world which is evident when she stood up for him after kissing Jess. The kiss was so great and the moments before it were so S2: Rory and Jess. They both seemed cozy...happy. And it was great when Jess asked if Rory had everything fixed. I was screaming "LIAR," when she said yes. Does she think being with Logan is right? Guess so because she pulled back and said that she loved Logan which I have to say had me wanting to gag. How could she lead Jess on and kiss him, then jerk back. Man, am I so mad. Yes, Logan needs to be treated with the same consideration that he bestowed on Rory, but Jess didn't deserve to be the one she'd picked if she had the guts to pull it off. I'd rather her sleep with Finn...it's the exotic thing. LOL!
I don't even know what else to say right now, other than this episode was a step up from the last eppie. What did you think? Let's get down to the love/hate emotions. What conclusions did you come to on Rory's end? Is Lorelai stepping up to her old self? Is Luke still nose-diving? What ideas do you have about Lane's dress? Come on don't be shy.

All I have to say about Lane is: poor Lane. That dress is....a tent. But, I have utter faith that Lorelai's sharp seamstress skills will kick in once again. Remember the pretty blue dress she made for Rory when Rory and Dean went to that dance? Oohh.....pretty.
Now..about Rory herself. WHAT WAS SHE THINKING??? You don't kiss someone, and then pull away stuttering" I'm sorry, I have a boyfriend, his stupid name is Logan and everything's fixed but not really." You just don't do that! Poor Jess. She was just leading him on and on...she came to Philly...she was nice and said hi to Jess...she kissed him....and then *boom*, she smashed him with Logan hammer.
All I have to say about Logan is I hate him. He's a stupid, good-for-nothing liar who's too cocky for his own good. (Although I somehow would like to keep his actor in a job, so I guess he can stay on the show for now) :)
Let's see...Lorelai...the bag thing was cracking me up! I seriously couldn't breathe afterward....and Luke! He was totally oblivious! (On a side note, I don't know how they shot that scene without laughing...that was hilarious!) I do however, give kudos to Luke for going on that field trip with his daughter and becoming (although maybe too much) involved with April.
Conclusion: I think that Rory should totally dump Logan's butt (c'mon...who thinks she shouldn't?!?) and start becoming friends with Jess. It's totally obvious that Jess has changed...1) he has his own book company..or printing company...whatever that thing is...2) he actually wrote a book himself...3) he is acting more mature, shown by paying Luke back the money..it's all there. But now Rory on the other hand, she's different. It's like the old Rory would have gotten along fine with the "new" Jess, but the "new" Rory wouldn't get along very well with the "new" Jess. Who knows...maybe I'm wrong. I don't know what's going to happen, I'm not clairvoyant. But I think they should be friends.
Okay..I'm done blabbing. Good post, Rudy.

Quick question Rudy, where are you finding the GG pics that you post on your blog? Just curious....

From the DVDs. The picture for this article is actually from season five. I couldn't help it, though, I just love Lorelai/Lauren in the shirt...it makes her eyes bounce.

I should clarify, though, that not all of the pics are from the DVDs...the one for this article and the Marty one and a couple of others, but some are ones that I found on the web...like the emily and jess ones.
And I'd like to say...wow! Lindy, your post is almost as long as mine. I don't prefer posting long posts, but this episode had me ranting and raving. Glad to see that I'm not the only one.
* Sure am glad that Lor is back at the sewing and such; Rory's dress rocked!
* Thanks for the comment on my post. You're such a sweet!

LOL well Rudy I kinda felt bad about posting such a long comment, but there was so much to say. I almost added "yes, I know I'm not the owner of this blog, sorry Rudy for taking up so much space!" =)
Anywho, thanks for the tip on the pictures.

Just loved how Lor dumped coffee on Lane's dress. I watched as she walked around the stand. Her coffee in hand and her pondering look made me think that she was being creative, then wham! She pours the coffee. I laughed. Way to go Lor!

That was a great moment. And yes, I did think that Lorelai was thinking on how she would fix the dress. You know...take it in here, chop that off...and then she destroyed it with coffee, which was a perfect weapon. Or at least a perfect weapon for Lorelai.
