Patty-Tale

Miss. Patty has been in the biz we like to call show for forty years. She's a hip gal, snazay dresser and all time Stars Hollow gossip townie. Any news, information or intel that passes by her ears is spread so quickly that you might think of her as a gossip plague. No one is immune. No one is safe. Normally, that is the case. But in the last installment episode called Super Cool Party People, Miss Patty dropped her long time habit. Instead of dealing out the "big bad" secrets, she covered for our Gilmore girl Lorelai about her drunken, center stage outburst. Well, she didn't omitt very much, just Lorelai's frontal slurr of "not happening marriage" talk. How sweet, huh? Well, at first it felt a little weird, but then I got to thinking. Miss Patty is a stand up lady. She's never in her whole life, or what we know of it, done anything to hurt anyone, especially Lorelai. Miss Patty has taken to herself to look out for Lor. Remember her attempt to set Lor up on a date at the basket buying in season two? She was trying to help give Lorelai what the poor girl needs, so it's clear to see that this act of lying was something well in Miss Patty's character.

But was Miss Patty's tale the right thing to do? Do you think that Lorelai hoped that her little outburst would reach Luke's ears? Or do you think that she was grateful for Miss Patty's act of kindness? What do you think of the Patty-tale?

i wanted luke to find out. it would have been so much better if he did. he would have finally got the truth in his brick-brain, and him and lor could have hashed it out. it appears though that the season finale is what that's for.

Yes, it appears that it'll be a wham! bam! thank you ma'am! seaon finale. I just love that Chris is in the mix. Luke's always had bad feelings about him, or a grudge on account of Loreali being Chris' first and father of her daughter, so I'm ready for things to go swinging.

I have to agree Rudy. I found it right up Miss Patty's alley, her lying that is. She a colorful character, to say the least, but she is also a caring one. But was it the right thing to do? I don't know. I'm with anonymous. I so wanted Luke to find out. But most of all, I want them [Lor and Luke] to fix things and I don't want Lorelai any where near Chris.

I'd be fine if she was near Christopher.

I wouldn't mind Chris either, especially after the way Luke has been. He's been nothing but selfish and irrating. Plus, I definitely hope Lorelai runs into Chris's bed and tells Luke that it's too late. Ha! That'll make him wish he'd been better to her.

I like Chris. I've always thought that Chris was the ying to Lorelai's yang. Even Lorelai admitted to this.

The good thing about Chris being around now is that he can provide to Lorelai and Rory the things he wished he could've given them (unlike the first season where his credit card got denied). Chris always said that he always wanted Lorelai. Remember when Sherry was around and the hot potato (later named Gigi) she dropped? Chris went to her because he knew it was the right thing for him to do despite not being emotionally connected to her.

Luke was a character Lorelai could depend on. He was structurally sound and had a soft spot for Lor when she needed a sounding board. Unfortunately, they never got to the same emotional level. When Lorelai was ready to move, Luke held back. Luke got frustrated when Lorelai told him to wait. The dance they had late last season and througout this season just proved that someone can care for someone deeply and yet not be quite perfect for someone.

Miss Patty was a glue to all things Stars Hollow. She knew Lorelai since she came to town and knew how to keep the peace between Luke and Lor. She may be a gossiper but she knew what beans to spill and how to keep things straight. If and when Luke finds out about Lorelai's slip-up and he gets pissed about it, guess what? He will already be a season (and a wedding) too late.
