Ganster Girls

The fun-loving Gilmore girls have reported many forms of fictitious puns, retorts, notions and quotes over their long haul. And one of the most recited or imitated movies on Gilmore Girls is The Godfather trilogy, which I'm hoping you would have guessed from the title. On many occassions, GG has delivered Godfather witticism. Remember their mock of Sophia? The Cannoli allusion? It becomes apparent then that either Dan or Amy Sherman-Palladino (or both) enjoy The Godfather. One could probably say that they salute it, but ah...that's something else altogether. What are you thoughts on the movie? Do you appreciate it's ganster/family storyline? Or do you just die when any quote or reference of the movie is pushed passed one of the leading ladies's lips? And does anyone think that it has become like Shakespear...quote overload?

Personally, I worship the movie. Have ever since childhood. It's about a time when life was different...was evolving. It's about family and it's about backdoor trades and money deals. It's covered with murder, lies and deceit, but don't all great movies have flawed stars -- Scarlett O'Hara to name one. No, she didn't hurt nobody. But she wasn't perfect, now was she? So yeah, I'm a ganster girl right along with the fictional Stars Hollow babes.

* Want to read it?

** Want to watch it?

*** And did you know that The Godfather had a game? I didn't. I feel a little shamed, too. I'm going to have to rent it to see what it's all about and to rectify my ignorance.

Sad News

According to TheCharmedOnes.com...

"TV Producer Aaron Spelling Dies at 83 (Associated Press, June 24, 2006)

LOS ANGELES (June 24) - Aaron Spelling, a onetime movie bit player who created a massive number of hit series, from the vintage "Charlie's Angels" and "Dynasty" to "Beverly Hills 90210" and "Melrose Place," died Friday, his publicist said. He was 83. Spelling died at his mansion in Los Angeles after suffering a stroke on June 18, according to publicist Kevin Sasaki.

Mr. Spelling died at 6:25 p.m. (June 23rd) at his Los Angeles home, wife Candy and son Randy at his side, according to publicist Kevin Sasaki. Although daughter Tori Spelling was not reportedly present, Us Weekly reports in its latest issue that, days before the stroke, she reconciled with father following a months-long rift purportedly stemming from the protrayal of them in her semi-autobiographical VH1 comedy series, so noTORIous.

Spelling set a record of producing more than 30,000 TV episodes. His latter-day hits were among his biggest hits: The family drama 7th Heaven, which premiered in 1996, and the supernatural series Charmed, casting spells as of 1998, paced the WB into the 21st century.

Memorial services are pending."

* As a huge fan of his many shows, I'm sad to see him go. I sincerely give my condolences to the Spelling family and wish them all the best. And I wish to thank Mr. Spelling himself for the years he has been in my life by just offering me wonderful shows like Charmed and Beverly Hills 90210.

** Thought I'd post this here, since Mr. Spelling was one of the great members of television.

A LOL Moment

A laughing out loud moment from season four's "The Festival of Living Art." Sookie St. James has come to the Gilmore house in a frantic fashion due to the baby's increasing womb residence. She's tired of carrying the little tiger. She wants a Manhattan, a scotch, a beer, a Rob Roy and a sidecar. She wants the little rugrat, but life without luxuries is driving her insane.

I heart this Sookie moment. It's truly funny, especially when she rants about her insides and yelps softly at Lorelai's witty banter. Plus, she does the jiggle. What could be funnier?

S4...Ooo La La

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

For the past month and a half, I’ve been biting into my DVD bunker and re-watching all of my favorites. Charmed, Lost and Everwood have kept me company, but oh, ho! I’ve been hankering for some Gilmore. Given my love for season four, I relaxed last night and dived into the first two discs. And I must say that it’s given me a calm, a sweet release! This season springs forth more humor and witty repartee than ever seen or enjoyed. It is completely an Ooo La La season.

Lauren Graham is extremely incredible at her job. Her skills amaze me in this bright season, and I’m not just calling the season bright because of the box. No, it’s Lauren’s beauty on screen! There really isn’t any line or dialogue that she can’t present. Her “mattress” banter with Luke in The Lorelais’ First Day At Yale proves just that. The writing there was great, though the delivery was just genius! But not only can she spit out words by the second with graciousness, she can spill emotion even grander. Saying goodbye to Rory at the dormitory’s main entrance ties that skill in a nice, neat package. And another highlight concerning Lauren this season is her hair. I swear it’s the best she has ever sported. The long and curly really works.

Mama’s girl! Haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. I can’t say that I thoroughly enjoyed the writers direction with Rory’s attachment to her mother in the second episode of the season, but Alexis Bledel did deliver with some taste. Well, enough taste that I didn’t want to hurl. The exchange was a little out of Rory’s character. I would have figured Lorelai for a reaction like that, if I considered one necessary at all. However, Alexis had Rory pinned to the wall this season. There is no guy to play around with -- to screw her up, except for Dean…ahhhhhh…I haven’t gotten there so I won’t dwell. Rory is really in her element this season. It’s all about school and college life. Dating, studying and…partying? All of the things surrounding a college student, even pissed off ballerinas (hee hee). Oh, how I miss that the past two seasons!

I wanted to type too, that all of the other characters are just as “ab fab” as the leading ladies. Emily is marvelous! Her Friday night hostage extravaganza was too great. Completely Emily, and I loved it. Then, clueless Luke…such a funny character. And movie night -- AWESOME! And let’s not forget Kirk - he is still as quirky as ever. His affection toward Lorelai was coo coo, but definitely foreseeable. Now, the best for last: Richard Gilmore. Out of all the side character, he is the one I love. His relationships with Rory and Lorelai are too remarkable. He is definitely up there in the ranks with Graham, for he can fence with the best of them (figuratively speaking, of course).

What are your thoughts on this season? I don’t know most of your affections toward this season on account that I started this blog in the middle of season six. But what are your feelings about no-men Rory, the path of L&L and the plots? Good? Bad? Gilmore? Not Gilmore?

My 1st Two GG Icons

My first GG icons. How did I do? I don't particularly think they are great, but they'll do for now. Enjoy!

These icons are in no way reflective of my feelings about the show. I'm just using the pics that I have currently on my computer. I'll get more as time permits.

P.S. I'm hoping to get some more done this weekend, but I might not. It's father's day weekend and I have no clue as to what my plans are as of yet. Happy early Father's Day! I hope everyone enjoys the weekend with great love for their father!

A GG Tid-bit

I love Italy. I love Italian food, music and guys. My walls are covered with Italian landscapes and monuments. Hence, I love biscotti. In the Gilmore world, biscotti is high fashion after the Europe trip. In season four's Ballrooms & Biscotti episode, Lorelai and Rory are seen with the delicious treats on more than one occassion. So naturally, I thought that I'd share with all this GG tid-bit. Biscotti comes from Italy, as if you didn't know from my intro. Biscotti is crisp Italian cookies made by baking cookie dough in two long slabs, cutting them into half-inch thick pieces and reheating them to dry them out. It is no wonder that a biscotto (sing. form) interests the Gilmore girls. And the fact that it is huge in the espresso bar experience just makes it more desired. I wonder, though, am I the only biscotti fanatic. Do any of you Gilmore fans enjoy the crisp treat? And can anyone guess how many times that Rory and Lorelai are actually eating biscotti in the season four premiere episode, even though they use the word countlessly?

"Copper Boom!" T-shirts

Hey everyone,

A fellower blogger provided me with the link to Zazzle. It's a marketplace where anyone and everyone can create, view or buy t-shirts, mugs and more. I have personally created my first zazzle shirts. They're called "Copper Boom!"

It's the back of the shirts. The front of both just has "copper boom" in pocket position. You can, however, customize them to your liking. So enjoy!

P.S. I plan on buying the black one myself, and if time permits, I'll make more. But for now, check out the previous posts and enjoy the words of the shirts. And if you would like to buy the shirt, use the above link to go about acquiring it.

Best Rory Moment

We are in summer slumber, where the news of Gilmore Girls is little and hardly bursting. There's no episodes to watch, except those already on DVD. No tears or worries, for I plan on keeping the blog up and running with new posts. I've been letting it slumber along with the end of season six, but not anymore. The blog is a great place to keep up the Gilmore drama and laughter, so I'm going to start the fire. It'll start small at first because I'd like to give myself time to get things brewing. We'll first start with opinions about Rory's best moment. It can be anything. Funny. Sad. Dramatic. Anything that you instantly think about at the mention of Rory Gilmore. Are there any moments, old and new, that you consider above all else? Do you have any moments that make you hit the mute button so that you don't have to listen? Are there any Rory moments that make you giggle?

To get the ball going, I'll state one of my best Rory moment. Do you remember Lorelai and Rory's trip to Harvard back in season two's The Road Trip To Harvard episode? Well, when the mother/daughter team is touring the campus by themselves and Rory is captivated by the size of the campus's library, I can never get over Rory's reaction:

"RORY: I'm a failure.

LORELAI: What?

RORY: I am stupid.

LORELAI: Oh stop.

RORY: I am uniformed and ignorant and. . .I can't even think of a second synonym for uninformed. I suck.

LORELAI: Honey.

RORY: Thirteen million volumes? I've read like, what, three hundred books in my entire life and I'm already sixteen? Do you know how long it would take me to read thirteen million books?

LORELAI: But honey, you don't have to read every one of them. "Tuesday's with Morrie?" Skip that. "Who Moved My Cheese?" Just stuff you already know.

RORY: Okay, but every kid coming to Harvard is inevitably reading books, and different books, and I want to be able to converse intelligently with each of them and I can't do that unless I read books, at least a few from every genre and sub-genre."

It just about kills me everytime I watch it. It is so Rory. Right down to her character.

P.S. And if any of you have ideas or suggestions about future posts, please contact me via email (Rudy8850@yahoo.com). Of course, I will be rewatching season 4 episodes because that season is my favorite. And I'll post any new news or updates about Gilmore Girls when and if they come.

GG Shop

I was surfing the web and I found a Gilmore Girls shop. It has some great things like shirts, DVDs, tote bags, mugs and more. And the mugs are awesome. You have to check it out by clicking here!

P.S. I like the "Luke's Diner" one.

More On Nomination

Hey guys and gals,

I posted a few days ago about Lauren Graham's TCA Award nomination, and now I'd like to follow up. Ausiello chatted with the snappy actress who plays the Gimore mother over the phone about her nomination and current activities. To check out the interview, you can visit Donut Shop (who posted the interview on her blog) or see it over at the Ausiello Report. In either case, you should check it out. It'll make you laugh a little, which is what the world and everybody needs once in awhile.

GG Crossword

I did a Charmed crossword on my Charming Talk blog and thought that I'd do one on Gilmore Girls. So here it is. Have fun!

Graham Nominated

Yep. Lauren Graham has been nominated. The sweet, beautiful actress has finally been given her due; she has received a nomination for the “individual achievement in comedy” of the 2006 TCA Award. What’s TCA Award? TCA stands for the Television Critics Association of which my favorite TV Guide Online source, Ausiello, is a member. And if you know him, then you know he is happy from head to toe. To find out more, click here. This link will give you more information on the TCA Award nominations for all categories, too. And if you’re wanting some spoiler news for the summer, then click here to jump on over to Ausiello’s spill-all.

S6 DVD Update

Here it is you guys! The Complete Season Six of Gilmore Girls is coming to stores. The sixth season is about the split, the rift if you will, between our favorite mother and daughter, who look quite glowing in the DVD picture to the left. It'll cover their fallout from the premiere episode New and Improved Lorelai and go all the way to the Luke and Lorelai fallout in the season finale episode Partings. According to TVShowsOnDVD.com, there is no word yet on extras. But there is a sliver lining, the 6 disc set will hit stores on September 19th of this year, which is before the season 7 premiere debut on the CW. So for all of you GG fans that missed some episodes, you can catch up before the new season and most likely final season kicks off.

P.S. I hope the picture will satisfy some of you GG fans. It seems to have quench my s6 fill for the moment, but I do have that nagging feeling about no extras. Please. Oh, please don't let it be true.
